Dachshund is a short-legged, long bodied, hound typed dog breed which was developed to scent, chase dwelling and tunneling animals like rabbits and foxes. They are also used in shows and small- game showcasing hunting. They are muscular low ground with short powerful legs. They have a long body which is compact and confident facial expression.

GENERAL APPEARANCE

They generally come in two size (standard and miniature) and with three coat varieties (smooth, wire haired and long haired). They are longer in length with a long and tapering nose and flap-down ears. They posses loose skin which is very elastic and feet seem large for their small body. They have long snout. And their deep chest helps them to provide maximum stamina during hunting.

Body size and weight: Body weight ranges from 8-14 kg and height 8-9 inches.

Fully Grown:

Male: 10-14 kg

Female: 7-12 kg
