Detailed Information: St. Bernard

Belonging to western Alps, St. Bernard is large and working breed of dog which was originally used to guard the ground of Switzerland. It is famous as a family dog and guardian though the tales of rescues in Alps  and also because of enormous size. Nowadays, this breed is sharing a good companionship with families all over the world. It is also versatile, we can see it in different dog shows and competitions.

GENERAL APPEARANCE

St. Bernard is a giant dog with hard and soft coat whose weight ranges from 60 to 120 kg. Their color is usually  red shade with white  and we can see black shading especially in face and ears. Tail is long which seems heavy and hangs low. They posses thick neck, broad head with developed cheekbones.

Body size and weight:  Male’s body weight ranges from 140-180 pounds whereas female weight is around 120-140 pounds. They are 25-30 inches in heights.

               Male:  140- 180 Pounds

               Female:  120-140 Pounds
