Detailed Information: Lhasa Apso

Lhasa Apso is a small yet hardy breed originated in the lap of Tibet. Lhasa refers to the capital of Tibet and Apso refers to the “goatlike”. It is believed that, Apso was initially bred for interior sentinel in Monasteries to alert the intruders entering.  Despite their small size they are independent and used as companion dogs for several families across the world.

GENERAL APPEARANCE

Lhasa is popularly  best known for their unique physical traits: long cloak of hair which is necessary for cold climate, is parted in middle and  drapes down to head to tail from an elongated body. Their body is longer than their height. The small, deep set eyes are dark brown  and ears which are pendant  are also heavily feathered. They are small, hardy dogs which are high spirited and devoted to their masters.

Body size and weight:  Body weight ranges from 5-8 kg and height 10-11 inches.

Fully Grown:

               Male: 7-8 kg

               Female: 5-7 kg
